So this is probably one of the most overplayed songs in the history of the earth, but it’s just one of those songs so outta this world and so unbelievably awesome that it’s gotta be overplayed. It starts off sounding like nothing special, just an ordinary rock ballad to a person who’s never heard it before (God forbid), but it soon turns into a crazy bundle of harmonies, piano playing, and arguing. The song starts off as a mournful ballad, rushes through a spectacular opera, and finally fuses into an angry rock song. It’s chaotic. It’s brilliant. It’s Queen.
And here it is:
LYRICS:
Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide
No escape from reality
Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see
I’m just a poor boy
(Poor boy)
I need no sympathy
Because I’m easy come, easy go
Little high, little low
Anyway the wind goes
Doesn’t really matter to me
To me
Mama,
Just killed a man
Put a gun against his head
Pulled my trigger, now he’s dead
Mama,
Life had just begun
But now I’ve gone and thrown it all away
Mama,
Oooh, Oooh
Didn’t mean to make you cry
If I’m not back again this time tomorrow
Carry on, carry on,
As if nothing really matters
Too late
My time has come
Sent shivers down my spine
Body’s aching all the time
Goodbye everybody
I’ve got to go
Gotta leave you all behind
And face the truth
Mama, ooh ooh,
(Any way the wind blows)
I don’t wanna die
I sometimes wish I’d never been born at all
(Instrumental)
I see a little silhouetto of a man
Scaramouche, Scaramouche, will you do the fandango
Thunderbolt and lighting
Very very frighting
Me!
I’m just a poor boy nobody loves me
He’s just a poor boy from a poor family
Spare him his life from this monstrosity
Easy come, easy go, will you let me go
Bismillah, no, we will not let you go
Let him go!
Bismillah, we will not let you go
Let him go!
Bismillah, we will not let you go
Let me go!
We will not let you go!
Let me go!
We will not let you go!
Will not let me go, oh, oh, oh
No, no, no, no, no, no, no
Oh mama mia, mama mia
Mama mia let me go!
Beelzebub, has the devil put aside for me
For me
For me!
So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye
So you think you can love me and leave me to die
Oh, baby
Can’t do this to me baby
Just gotta get out
Just gotta get right out of here
(Instrumental)
Ooh, ooh, ooh yeah, ooh yeah
Nothing really matters
Anyone can see
Nothing really matters
Nothing really matters to me
Sorry I haven’t had much time to write stuff other than “Song of the Day” for the past couple days.. been reallllly busy, school just started, soccer just started, etc. Luckily not too many people read this so you probably don’t really care, hahaha. I’ll get to the good stuff.
I Will Posses Your Heart by Death Cab for Cutie
I just got into Death Cab (I own the Postal Service CD ‘Give Up’, which is a side project of Death Cab’s Ben Gibbert) and they sound great. This song in particular caught my attention. The first half of the song is just instrumental, and it’s sounds great. The bass is my favorite part, it’s simple and repetitive, but it’s just so cool. And the lyrics, once again, are simple, but simple works with this song.
And hey, less lyrics for me to write out. Haha. [EDIT] WTF? It turned out there were a lot of lyrics. BUMMERRRRR.
Here it is:
LYRICS:
How I wish you could see the potential
The potential of you and me
It’s like a book elegantly bound but
In a language that you can’t read
You’ve gotta spend some time, love
You’ve gotta spend some time with me
And I know that you’ll find, love
I will posses your heart
You’ve gotta spend some time, love
You’ve gotta spend some time with me
And I know that you’ll find, love
I will posses your heart
There are days when outside your window
I see my reflection as I slowly pass
Then I long for this mirrored perspective
When we’ll be lovers, lovers at last
You’ve gotta spend some time, love
You’ve gotta spend some time with me
And I know that you’ll find, love
I will posses your heart
You’ve gotta spend some time, love
You’ve gotta spend some time with me
And I know that you’ll find, love
I will posses your heart
(Na na na na na na na)
(Na na na na na na na)
I will posses your heart
(Na na na na na na na na)
(Na na na na na na na na)
I will posses your heart
(Na na na na na na na na)
(Na na na na na na na na)
You reject my, advances
Desperately
I won’t let you, let me down
So easily
So easily
You’ve gotta spend some time, love
You’ve gotta spend some time with me
And I know that you’ll find, love
I will posses your heart
(Na na na na na na na na)
(Na na na na na na na na)
You’ve gotta spend some time, love
You’ve gotta spend some time with me
And I know that you’ll find, love
I will posses your heart
(Na na na na na na na na)
(Na na na na na na na na)
You’ve gotta spend some time, love
You’ve gotta spend some time with me
And I know that you’ll find, love
I will posses your heart
(Na na na na na na na na)
(Na na na na na na na na)
I will posses your heart
(Na na na na na na na na)
(Na na na na na na na na)
This song’s been stuck in my head all day so I though I’d put it up as song of the day (which will probobly be the case on most days). This cover taken from the Smiths’ has a killer beat accompanied by the unique voice of Daniel Merriweather. The English producer Mark Ronson puts a jazzy/hip-hop twist to the rock song on his album Version (which I highly recomend. The CD includes singers such as Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen, Robbie Williams, and many others).
LYRICS:
Stop me oh, oh, oh, stop me
Stop me if you think that you’ve heard this one before
Stop me oh, oh, oh, stop me
Stop me if you think that you’ve heard this one before
‘Cause nothing’s changed
I still love you, oh I still love you
But only slightly only slightly less
Then I used to, my love
I was delayed I was way-laid
An emergency stop
I saw the last ten seconds of life
Crashed down on the crossbar
And the pain was enough to make a
Shy, bald, Buddhist reflect
And plan a mass murder, yeah
Who said I lied to her
Who said I lied, because I never, never
Who said I lied because I never
I was detained, I was restrained
Broke my knee
Broke my spleen
And then he really laid into me
(Yeah)
Friday night in outpatients
Who said I lied to her
Who said I lied ’cause I never, never
Who said I lied to her
So I drank one
It became four
And when I fell on the floor
I drank more
Stop me oh, oh, oh, stop me
Stop me if you think that you’ve heard this one before
Stop me oh, I said stop me
Stop me if you think that you’ve heard this one before
‘Cause nothing’s changed
I still love you, oh I still love you
But only slightly, only slightly less
Then I used to, my love
Set me free why don’t you, girl
Get out my life why don’t you
‘Cause you don’t really love me, no
You just keep me hanging on
Set me free why won’t you, girl
Get out my life why don’t you, girl
‘Cause you don’t really love me, no, no, no
You just keep me hanging on
What a chill song. Her accent is awesome and the beat just makes me want to get high, and I don’t even smoke! (I’m lame, I know) Any song that can do that is great in my books.
LYRICS:
I fly like paper, get high like planes
If you catch me at the border, I got visas in my name
If you come around here I make em all day
I get one down in a second if you wait
I fly like paper, get high like planes
If you catch me at the border, I got visas in my name
If you come around here I make em all day
I get one down in a second if you wait
Sometimes I think sittin’ on trains
Every stop I get to I’m clockin’ that game
Everyone’s a winner we’re making our fame
Bonafied hustler making my name
Sometimes I think sittin’ on trains
Every stop I get to I’m clockin’ that game
Everyone’s a winner we’re making our fame
Bonafied hustler making my name
[CHORUS]
All I wanna do is
(Bang bang bang bang)
And uh,
(Reload)
(Caching)
And take your money
[x4]
Pirate skulls a bones
Sticks and stones and weed and bongs
Runnin’ when we hit ‘em
Lethal poison for the system
Pirate skulls a bones
Sticks and stones and weed and bongs
Runnin’ when we hit ‘em
Lethal poison for the system
No one on the corner has swagger like us
Hit me on my burner prepaid wireless
We pack and deliver like UPS trucks
Already going hell just pumpin’ my gas
No one on the corner has swagger like us
Hit me on my burner prepaid wireless
We pack and deliver like UPS trucks
Already going hell just pumpin’ my gas
All I wanna do is
(Bang bang bang bang)
And uh,
(Reload)
(Caching)
And take your money
[x4]
M.I.A. third world democracy
Yeah I got more records than the KGB
So uh, no funny business
(You’re already high)
Some, some, some I, some I murder
Some I, some I let go
Some, some, some I, some I murder
Some I, some I let go
All I wanna do is
(Bang bang bang bang)
And uh,
(Reload)
(Caching)
And take your money
Check ‘em out. I promise you that they are well worth the money.

One of the greatest songs ever? Listen to Jonny Greenwood’s guitar solos, jeeze. The song almost sounds like it has three songs intertwined into it! And Thom’s moaning = legend.
LYRICS:
Please could you stop the noise I’m trying to get some rest
From all the unborn chicken voices in my head
What’s that?
(I may be paranoid, but not an android)
What’s that?
(I may be paranoid, but not an android)
When I am king you will be first against the wall
With your opinion which is of no consequence at all
What’s that
(I may be paranoid, but no android)
What’s that
(I may be paranoid, but no android)
Ambition makes you look pretty ugly
Kicking squealing gucci little piggy
You don’t remember
You don’t remember
Why don’t you remember my name
Off with his head, man
Off with his head, man
Why don’t you remember my name
I guess he does
Rain down, rain down
Come on now rain down on me
From a great height
From a great height, height
Rain down, rain down
Come on rain down on me
From a great height
From a great height, height
Rain down, rain down
Come on rain down on me
Rain down
(That’s it sir, you’re leaving)
Rain down
(The crackle of pigskin)
Come on rain down on me
(The dust and the screaming, the yuppies networking)
From a great height
(The panic, the vomit)
From a great height
(The panic, the vomit)
(God loves his children, God loves his children, yeah!)
